When a tree struggles despite regular watering and care, the problem is often buried at the base, where roots and trunk meet. Our root crown excavation service is designed to find and correct those hidden issues before they shorten the tree's life or create structural hazards.

Many trees suffer from buried flares, excess soil piled against the trunk, or girdling roots that slowly strangle the tree just below grade. Left unaddressed, these conditions can lead to decay, lean, dieback in the canopy, and, eventually, failure. As an ISA Certified Arborist-led team, we use this service to diagnose what is happening where you cannot see it and to intervene with minimal stress to the tree.

We carefully remove soil and mulch from around the root crown using tools and techniques that avoid tearing live tissue. Once the flare and primary roots are exposed, we assess for rot, constricting roots, and improper planting depth. Where possible, we correct problems by selectively cutting girdling roots, reshaping the grade, and re-establishing a proper root flare above the surrounding soil.

This work is precise and methodical, but the payoff can be substantial: improved stability, better oxygen exchange to roots, reduced risk of trunk rot, and a stronger foundation for the tree to recover and thrive.
